Mauro Moretti, CEO of Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, has been re-elected Vice Chairman of the International Union of Railways (UIC) for the third time in a row.
The election took place in Paris, during the UIC General Assembly.
Dilma Vana Rousseff, President of the Republic of Brazil, and Joseph C. Szabo, Administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), also participated.
The President of Brazil presented the UIC Assembly with the investment program to create the new HS Brazilian line, between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, which the FS Italiane Group is interested in. Whereas the Administrator of FRA explained the programs for the new HS lines scheduled by the American Administration, headed by President Barack Obama.
Assigning the position of UIC Vice Chairman to Mauro Moretti for the third time is an acknowledgement of the commitment shown at both European and international level and of the ability to fully represent the interests of the railway industry, as also confirmed with the office of Chairman of CER (Community of European Railways and Infrastructure Companies).
